It’s been a while since my last handstand pushup post, as I’ve had a holiday from the blog. During that period, I’ve been attempting HSPUs once every 1-3 weeks.
For a few months now, I’ve been strong enough to complete a supported HSPU, but have struggled with maintaining my balance. I have tried a few different movements/methods, but these involve a weaker set of muscles and don’t seem to improve my balance.
Finally, tonight I tried doing a HSPU quicker. The increased speed helped me balance longer and shortened the time I needed to balance for. As a result, I was able to complete an unsupported HSPU!
The list item said ‘three’ originally, but I have changed that to ‘one’ due to waning enthusiasm and other things on my mind. The point was always to do something I thought was very physically challenging and that looked cool, and it passes those criteria with flying colours! I feel slightly guilty for changing a list item so I can tick it off, but it’s my list. I’ll also keep trying for three in a row, as it’s a simple and quick form of exercise that I can do anywhere. I’ll post again if I hit three, otherwise this list item is done!
